Appearance:
Darin stands roughly six standard feet in height, with straight, light brown hair that ends half-way down his back, though some of it falls in front of his face, forming a frame for his eyes, once doe-brown, now turned the color of burnished gold from the Dark Side. His skin is tanned from his time spent on Tatooine. Darin keeps himself in tip-top physical condition as well, making his entire body well-toned with corded muscle. His most usual attire is a pair of black pants made from synthetic fibers, tucked into black leather boots. Over his torso he wears a similar black tunic with a long leather vest worn over that, all tied with a belt at the middle. Over all of this he wears a long black robe with a large hood that completely covers his face when pulled up, and also covers his hands unless he raises his arms. His lightsaber hilt is smooth and black, but with lines of a red metal giving it a serpentine appearance. The activator stub as a small Sith symbol inlaid in blood-red, matching the color of his blade. Darin wears his weapon on his left hip.

Personality:
Darin is at once ferocious and cold. His constant quest for knowledge has forced him to recognize when it's better to stand back and let events unfold as they will, tweaking them slightly to produce the desired outcome of course, and when simple slaughter is required. While he schools his emotions to keep them from showing on his appearance, there is always anger at his core, sometimes an ember, and other times a blazing, towering bonfire, but usually it is somewhere in the middle. Darin recognizes that depression and sadness in general are powerful self-destructive emotions, and as such, he tries very hard not to get attached to anything, organic or non. While he much prefers working alone, he is not so naive to believe he can accomplish everything by himself, but even so, every other being in the Galaxy is expendable.

History:
Darin was born to a pair of Coruscanti diplomats in the year 7 BBY, back when the Rebel Alliance was little more than rumors and isolated cases. He was brought up learning the virtues of the Empire, and the evils of the fallen Republic and the tyrannical Jedi. His parents lauded upon the Emperor, were constantly saying what a wise and powerful man he was, but even at that young age, Darin saw through them to the truth. His parents were afraid, and with good reason. At an early age Darin had exhibited abnormal activities. Absurdly fast reflexes, a keen intuition, and a knack for getting into places he shouldn't be. His parents, having lived during the era of the fallen Republic, recognized these sights at once, and with no shortage of fear. They had also lived through the Purge. Fearing for their son's life, the Saine family withdrew from politics, lest their son display some remarkable power at one social event or another, and began schooling him at home, with private tutors sworn into secrecy with the greatest oath of all: credits. Of course, Darin knew he was special, and exulted in it. Rather than suppressing his powers, as per his parents' wishes, he experimented with them, trying to see just what he could and couldn't do.
One day, just before the Battle of Yavin, all of that came crashing down. Darin was wandering the upper levels of Coruscant, as he often did when his parents were away in their new jobs, his father a beaurocrat, his mother a secretary, when he spotted a dark figure. Instantly he felt a connection with this man, though he had never known him. And this man felt the same, for he turned to Darin with eyes of burnished gold. He introduced himself as Lord Aldarin, and promised Darin greatness, freedom, and most of all, power. All the boy had to do was come with him. Of course, at seven years old, Darin was delighted. Within a year, his parents both died of depression, leaving him the sole heir to the Saine family. Aldarin took Darin to Tatooine, where they remained for thirteen years. During the course of those years, Darin grew and matured, both physically and within the Dark Side of the Force. He grew strong, built a lightsaber, and was powerful.
On his twentieth birthday, Darin knew the time had come which all Sith Apprentices dream of: the time to kill his master and assume the mantle of Sith Lord. In the dead of night, Darin poisoned Aldarin's drink, then confronted him the next day. The battle was short, brutal, and entirely one-sided. After his victory, Darin assumed control of his late master's ship and various other possessions. A search of his master's quarters revealed his most prized possession: an ancient holocron, presumed to have survived the entirety of the Old Republic. Darin activated it, and a blue, wispy figure appeared, though the figure was relatively tall, bone white and bald. "My name is Darth Bane, Dark Lord of the Sith." For the past year Darin has worked at learning all Bane had left on the holocron, as well as searching out others, Jedi and Sith alike. However, he also made a very important decision: he had no desire to carry on the legacy of his master, and his master's master before him. At least, not yet. Not until he had all the knowledge he would ever need.
Interesting character you have there. Fits well in the timeline and I appreciate the explanation of how the family survived the purge. Since our resident Sith Lord is awol I'm happy to see this application. Even though Saine has no interest in following his old Master's legacy just yet, it's left open so there are a few avenues of exploration available.

Thank ya, I wasn't quite sure how my character would fit into the Sith Empire that I saw set up, but I have some interesting ideas, especially involving the Independant Olympics, which is where I'm headed right now ^_^
