So myself and Ace been thinking of different ways to get everyone together and doing a little action RPing. Considering that the vast majority of our characters here are Independents, I came up with a loose idea for a competition.
Basically the syndicate will stage and host a variety of challenges, jobs and competitions, in order to find the best of the best. Major cash prizes and a lucrative contract with the syndicate will be up for grabs, as well as business exclusivity. A select group of Independents will be chosen to take part; smugglers, hunters and mercs thought to be at the top of their games, as well as those who may feel they have something to prove. A variety of different challenges will be set for the individuals, along with competitions of a larger scale, where our characters will be in direct competition with each other.
So if you have any further ideas, or think you would like to sign your char up, post and let me know. I'll be thrashing out a few different ideas for challenges that would suit our characters. _________________
Excellent! It should be a bit of fun for us. I hope to get something at least started by the weekend, even just an opening. As for the rest of you Independents, sign up and join the race! Ain't no chickens here. _________________

This sounds interesting....very interesting. I dont think Jaren can openly participate in it though. However....dont we need to put Jaren and Tylana's H&S groups in competition with each other, no? Well perhaps it could be this....just an idea. Or maybe a smaller version of this. They are sort of blackmailed or sort of forced to participate in very life threatening events?
So here's roughly what I've got so far. Hosted by Devall and taking place in the Crimson Palace, owned and operated by Bren Cora, and you can read about that here. It seems like the perfect spot for our criminal miscreants to congregate, size each other up and get the games started. Sign up for the Independent games will be done there, and in character. Some Independents might have received invitation, others might have heard about it through colleagues or peers and have decided to give it a shot to further their reputations. Details on location, facilities etc to follow.
There will be five categories of competition. Pilot Skills, Combat (more than likely hand to hand), Marksmanship, Seek and Destroy (will explain more about this later) and a very evil, dark and twisted Treasure/Scavenger Hunt.

This is a very good idea. Jaren wouldn't exactly be able to compete and it wouldn't be Tylana's thing either. It would be a good way to get them involved realistically. _________________
Shayna ran a large sharpening stone down the length of one of her Wookiee-made ryyk blades. The ringing tone made as the stone left the blade's tip hung in the air for several seconds. It had been awhile since last she competed against the best scum the galaxy had to offer. Unfortunately for the galaxy, even the best scum was still only scum. Shayna had no trouble cleaning it up either. Sheathing the blade, she stood to her feet. "Let the games begin..."
I want to get this started this weekend guys, while I actually have the time to do anything other than work and sleep.
I'll post as Devall and set the scene at the Crimson Palace, then anyone who wants to be involved can post their character arriving/registering/mingling/getting drunk etc. _________________
So things have begun to get underway, but I think I need to clarify a couple of things just in case there is any confusion.
The first step is to post in the Meet & Greet thread. Anyone interested in joining the RP should do this. Basically this serves to let me know who is interested and the various skill sets of that character, and from there I can effectively plan the first event; Combat.
This will be written in free form, but discussion will come in to play here, as well as common sense. There are some Independent characters who will excel at hand to hand combat, and some who are adequate. It goes without saying that the characters with more extensive training and skill will win out. However, as the fighters are paired up there will have to be a discussion between the two characters and possibly myself, to discern who would realistically come out on top, and what way the fight would lean throughout.
Obviously it will appear that the administrators of the Games have chosen the opponents at random, but if you would like your character to fight someone specific then that can certainly be arranged. Following Combat will be a test of Pilot skill.
There are events that require substantial planning on my part, and guidelines will be given in the interest of fairness when those events arise so things don't get out of hand. The threads for each event will be opened by myself with instructions therein.

Well, sinse combat is the first event. When I kill everyone I face, do I win the contest automaticly? Just kidding. Seriously though, with combat being the first event, injuries will occure. Will these injuries have to be roleplayed into the other events, or are we going to give people time to recover, in the interest of fair play? _________________
LOL. No. I'll probably cook up some elaborate point system. I'm not really sure why I chose combat first; could be because we haven't seen a decent fighting RP yet, or maybe because I watch too much UFC.
In regard to injuries I figured that since the whole event is being bankrolled by Devall he could more than afford to supply a couple of bacta tanks, so any injured party can be dunked if need be. Also I think that realistically there should be a day or two between events, more for real life purposes than anything else. _________________
Sign Vil up, I think this is just the thing to get some action for her. She'll suck in some of the events but doesn't mean she's not gonna try ^^
