Early memories
Beruk was in the living room playing with his toys, he was having a happy day, spending time close to his mother was something that he loved doing no matter what, his mother was cleaning a few things there when she suddenly got the urge to play a bit with her son, “Hey honey, what you doing there? Look, tickle fight!!”, she said right before hurling herself towards Naja, suddenly his father walks in with a bright smile in his face running towards them to join the fun, those were happy times for Beruk.
A year later things were a little different, Beruk was in his room sobbing, not knowing what to think of things that have happened earlier that day, he kept reliving everything in his mind over and over again, something that made him unhappier, suddenly he hears a banging door, his father must have arrived, he looks at his room, most of his toys are destroyed, some of the furniture as well, he doesn’t know what to think and then the inevitable, his door opens.
“Here you are you little brat, I’m not done with you!”, his father paces toward him with his hand raised and as soon as he gets close enough he gives Naja a good smack, the sound is loud, he then begins punching his own child like a mad man, Beruk doesn’t know what to do, what to think, so he just stays put, taking it without showing any resistance, after all he’s nothing but a small boy, then his mother comes running screaming, “NOOOO!!! Leave him alone you animal.”, and throws herself at the mad man without a second thought stopping him for a few seconds, “I’ll leave him alone all right, don’t you worry, I won’t touch him tonight, you’ll see!!”, Lucious, his father then grabs her by the hair and drags her out of the room and beats her senseless right outside Naja’s room, when he’s done he leaves for the local cantina, in need of a refill, Beruk goes for his mother aid, holding her head in his legs calling out her name over and over again while culming her hair, yes, things were quite different for him.
It was a quiet morning, Beruk was a young boy now, he couldn’t handle what happened in that house anymore, he had to go, that or kill his father, but it wasn’t in him, yet, he decided that would be his last day in that hell so he went to his mother outside.
The sun bathed her mother’s face as he told her, “Mom I’m running away, why don’t we run together? Please come with me!”, Monica caressed his face and said, “I can’t my son, if I go he’ll come after us, this way at least you’ll have a chance to escape, take this with you.”, she gave him her pendant, a present gave to her by his father, a family heirloom sort of speak, he tried to refuse but had to accept after so much insistence.
He ran away from home, finally he had done it, he was free, but in the other hand he had nothing, no one to help him in those streets, it wasn’t a good place for a young boy to live in all alone, in order to survive he would have to do questionable things, things he had never thought he would have to do, no money in his pocket but a grumbling stomach would force him to steal, he would have to, how else would he get any food? He wasn’t the kind of person to depend on other peoples pity.
After a few days he began to go extremely hungry, the desperation of his condition was severe, he knew he had to do something and then he finally decided his fate.
In the distance he could see a local market, he knew he had to eat so he headed that way, the streets were filled with people running around, business as usual he thought to himself, he had to go through that crowd without raising any unwanted attention, so he took a few bumps without saying a word, fortunately the merchant was distracted by a buyer, “Lucky me.”, Naja said to himself and headed for the food, he took a few things and put them in his pockets as fast as he could but suddenly the merchant noticed him, “HEY!! You little punk, I’ll get you!”, the man said while running towards him clearly angry at Beruk, he ran away as fast as he could in the opposite direction and turned abruptly to a back alley to his right, it was a dead end, he couldn’t believe his luck but then an unexpected help, “Hey, through here quickly!!”, he could hear someone calling to him, he looked in the voices direction and saw another boy his age in a crack in the wall, he ran towards him and escaped the merchant.
“Good thing I was there, that guy’s twisted, he would have hurt you real bad I tell ya, I’m Savren by the way, nice to meet ya.”, said the little boy, Naja was a bit suspicious of him but he knew he had no choice but to trust him, “Thank you, you can call me Beruk.”, Savren smiled at Naja, he was visibly happy to meet him, “Good, you have a place to stay? If not follow me.”, he said while turning his back to Beruk and going through the crowd, Naja followed as best he could, after much walking they reached an abandoned house with a few other kids their age, Beruk counted five at that time.
“Who’s this?”; said the bigger one, “This is Beruk, he nearly got caught by Krakun, good thing I was there to help him otherwise things wouldn’t go well with him.”, replied Savren, “Ok then, he stole something? Let me have it then, come on.”, the large kid walked in the direction of Naja expecting him to comply without resistance, but Beruk wasn’t about to do that, so he punched him and grabbed the nearest thing he could find, with a rock in his hand he was ready to fight, “Hey hey, take it easy Beruk, we do this every time we steal something, we put everything together and eat it as a family, ‘cause on this streets we’re the only family you’ll ever get men!”, Savren stated trying to calm things up, the large kind instead of launching himself at Naja started laughing, “Nice punch, but give me what you stole and sit over there, we’re going to eat soon.”, he said pointing at the floor next to another one, so he complied, gave him what little he had and ate with all of them, now this was his family.
Beruk was now 16, a young man skilled in theft, he and his gang were now known thief’s all across Mos Eisley getting the attention of several questionable characters, several were invited to a few local criminal organizations, in the end there was only Savren and Naja, everyone else had either died or joined another more powerful group, Savren was more skilled at stealing than Beruk but Beruk in the other hand was more ruthless and intelligent, eventually he was forced to join Karnak the Hutt, the same crime lord who had disgraced Naja’s father, he had no choice but to join since Karnak made it abundantly clear what could happen to his mother in case he rejected his offer, he left Savren’s side at that time.
“Good, I knew you would accept my invitation, I heard a lot of things about your skills and exploits over this past few years human.”, Karnak then grabs a small creature and slips it into his mouth to Naja’s disgust, “You hungry? Later you’ll be fed, don’t worry, now I want you to be trained by some of my men, they are skilled in firearms and swords, but they’re quite brutal and a human of your finesse would be a fine addition to my personal army.”, the Hutt starts laughing out loud as soon as he finishes talking visibly quite happy of his accomplishment.
Naja was now face to face to one of the deadliest man in Tatooine, a fierce assassin named Trogar skilled with swords and small firearms, his brutality would only be matched with his arrogance, “Here’s your wooden stick, now try to hit me with it you pathetic excuse of a human being.”, Trogar asked Beruk after throwing a training sword made of wood at him nearly hitting his head, with the training sword in his hand Naja threw himself at Trogar who was unarmed.
He tried to strike Trogar with a thrust of the sword hoping to hit his chest but didn’t succeeded, instead his new master dodged easily the attack and hit Naja in the back of the head with tremendous force, this of course put the young man unconscious but a few minutes later he regained it back with Trogar smacking him around until he woke up, “Come on, wake up already, good, now that you’re awake a small useful lesson.”, the man gets up while talking not caring about Beruk’s condition, “Now you have seen what might happen if you do not listen and train has hard as I tell you to, once I’m done with you you’ll be a killing machine, able to kill with a single strike and on the first try, now, are you willing to learn or aren’t you?”, he asked Naja, “Yes I am.”, he replied.
Over the next two years he trained with the best the Hutt could offer, quickly becoming his most skilled fighter and thief, but in the end he got his first killing mission, after all that was why he was invited to join them, now he would have to perform what he was trained to do for so long, his skills as a stealthy thief and a marvellous swordsman made him the perfect choice for assassination purposes, all the others lacked his finesse and used quite public choices to kill their targets.
“You are ready to begin Beruk, your time of training his over, there’s nothing else my bounty hunters and assassins can teach you, I have your first assignment, come closer.”, Karnak ordered and Naja quickly complied, the Hutt then gave him a DataPad with his mission objectives, his ‘mark’ was none other than Savren, apparently he had got in their way and needed to be dealt with, “But…This is Savren, you want me to kill Savren? Why can’t Trogar or someone else do it? I refuse to do it!”, Naja said defiantly, “I want you to do it because I want it to be discreet, and you’ll do what I tell you to, you know the consequences of your rejection.”, Beruk quickly thought of his mother, he knew he had to obey.
Naja’s on the top a rooftop in the middle of the night, he has no idea where Savren’s hideout is, but he knows where he’s striking next, the home of a local merchant is said to contain a valuable gem, the man is supposed to be protected by Karnak so most thiefs or crooks don’t even thing about stealing him, but for Savren is an open invitation, for Naja it’s his chance to do his job.
He has regular clothes, not even armour, armed with a dagger, he knows his old friend never carries a weapon so that is all he needs for his first killing assignment, his eyes are set on the big house, with several entry points, windows, balconies and even a few glass doors, “What a stoopa, a pity you’re not my mark, you would be a easy one.”, Naja says to himself, the moonlight eases his task of observation, he knows what to do, he’s playing the waiting game, a few hours later Savren finally appears, jumps the east wall and heads for the nearest entry, a small window, “That would be my choice as well old friend.”, Beruk smiles as he states that.
About 15 minutes later Savren comes out clearly satisfied for fulfilling his job, appears to have something in his belt, a small bag, must contain the gem Naja thinks, Savren jumps the wall and goes about his way rather happy not knowing who’s behind him, Naja jumps off the roof to a wooden box, and goes quickly into the shadows as Savren looks in his direction alarmed by the sound he made, “Damn, now he’ll be suspicious, have to be extra carefull.”, Naja mumbles, nevertheless Savren continues on his way looking back a few times but never seeing anything, walks for about 10 minutes in the direction of an abandoned area, with a lot of old and decrepit houses ideal for a thief.
When finally Savren walks into one of them Naja is satisfied with himself for not being discovered so far, he goes near the farthest window to do a little bit of recon, “His room, great, look at that, the perfect spot!”, Beruk then quickly jumps through the window without making a sound and heads for his place, a wooden beam in the ceiling, perfect to hide and wait for Savren to go to bed, about half an hour later Savren finally goes to bed, he’s quite tired, after all it was a busy night, he hides the gem behind a brick in his bedroom wall, “Nice place, Savren, wouldn’t have done better myself.”, a little while later his old friend is already snoring, Beruk slowly gets on the floor trying not to wake him up and gets closer to Savren, as he gets close enough he speaks, “Sorry old friend.”, and slits his throat without a second thought trying to hold him down, “Shsss, don’t struggle, it’s done, go to sleep, go to sleep.”, Beruk drops a tear as he does his job, in that day he lost his only friend.
On that day Beruk was merely having a word with Karnak about a former ‘mark’, his boss wanted him to make things more public, “Koochoo, I told you to kill him out in the open, put a bomb in him or his house!!”, Karnak said clearly displeased with Naja, “I was going to detonate his vehicle from a distance, but you neglected to mention there would be children involved, that’s off limit for me.”, Beruk responded, “I do not care! You’re my shag, you do what I say...”, then one of the crime lord’s butlers came running, “MY LORD!! I’m sorry but there’s a Jedi who wishes to speak with you, he’s nearly here.”, as soon as he spoke he tried to leave his masters sight to escape punishment for interrupting.
A few seconds later a man appears, he had a bright glow about him, Naja stared at him as if measuring him up not knowing what to think, the man was dressed with grey robes that covered his entire body, with his hood down, it was clear to him that he was much older but still presented himself with a rather young full look about him, with a few grey hairs and a clean shave he was at the pinnacle of his physical shape, “A formidable ‘mark’.”, he thought to himself nearly lunging himself at him, Karnak noticing his advance ordered, “Hold your ground stoopa, he’s a Jedi, you would die.”
The man looked at Beruk for a few seconds and then to Karnak before requesting a private discussion with the crime lord, “I would have a word with you in private if you don’t mind Karnak.”, the Hutt quickly agreed to his request and dismissed Naja, he wanted to stay but he knew he should comply to his boss request
Later on that day, Naja was on the local cantina, he wasn’t there for fun, he never had fun like other people did, he resented that, he was there on a business call, as usual, he was always with business in mind, that was the only way for him not to go crazy, the air was filled with fumes from other customers, everyone there was drinking and enjoying themselves except him, his drink was there for a long time now and he wouldn’t touch it, then the door opened, and to his surprise it was the Jedi, his mind went blank, he was at peace with himself, that didn’t happen very often, only when on the thrill of the kill, “Strange.”, he said to himself.
The Jedi looked around as if looking for someone, then he noticed Naja on a table in the back, all alone in the dark, he stared at him for a few seconds before walking his way, it was strange to Beruk, “What the hell is he doing here?”, he said out loud, when the Jedi finally reached him he pulled a chair and sat down as if it was the most normal thing in the world, “Hello, my name is Sylar, it is a pleasure meeting you Beruk, I have heard much from you ever since I arrived here at Tatooine.”, the friendly smile he gave the assassin was confusing for him, why would a Jedi be friendly towards him specially being in his line of work.
“You came looking for me? What do you want from me Jedi?”, Beruk replied mistrustfully, “Friend call me Sylar please, I insist.”, he then ordered a drink from the bartender as if he had done that hundreds of times before and once again turned his attention to Naja, “In fact I’ve been looking for you ever since I saw you with Karnak, I was wondering how exactly did you join his side, may I ask you why?”, he asked with such a friendly tone that Beruk felt obligated to answer truthfully.
For the next half and hour he poured everything that had happened with him as if he had known Sylar all his life, he had no idea why he did that but he did it nonetheless, “There you have it, now, why have you been looking for me…Sylar?”, he asks as soon as he finishes the story of his young life, “Well I have felt a disturbance in the Force when I saw you, in fact I could sense it before I put my eyes on you, you must be a Force-Sensitive, perhaps that’s what makes you so formidable in your line of work.”, then he stopped as if trying to think of what to say.
“The thing is you’re too old to be trained now, you should have received training as a young child, besides I sense that you are tainted by your emotions, although you do not express them of course, but you have them deep inside you, and I’m afraid that when they get out you’ll be drawn to a dark place, although everyone has a chance to redeem you however are on a path that can only lead to the dark side.”, he then looked deep in Beruk’s eyes and finally added, “I’m sorry but unless you change your way you’ll never be trained by the Jedi, I wish you the best, may the Force be with you my young friend.”, when Sylar muttered his final words he got up quietly with amazing grace, indeed they had everything his mother said to him but he wasn’t satisfied, “If you didn’t want to train me why have you dropped this bomb on me Sylar?”, Naja asked to the Jedi, “Well, you deserved to know, besides I can also sense some good in you still, not all hope’s lost.”, Sylar then left as if nothing ever happened, Naja never saw him again, and to this day he still thinks of that meeting.
Beruk had received a new mission by his employer, apparently there was a new bounty that required his special talents, ever since he had met Sylar his skill had improved greatly, he was now even more focused and deadly, although his equipment left a lot to desire his obvious knack for the job was all he needed to complete his assignments, however in that night things would change for him.
In his DataPad he could see some information on his ‘mark’, a small time smuggler, not much of a challenge in Beruk’s mind, he had dealt with much more dangerous people in the past, but still he would learn a big lesson on that job as it would change him forever, his ‘marks’ name was Taren, he had already met a few bounty hunters and assassins but no one that special, he was warned by Karnak to be extra careful on this one as he would probably be with someone the all time.
A meeting was arranged by a local contact, for Taren it would be a great business deal, for Naja it would be the completion of his, Taren was told to come alone to the arranged site, an old abandoned warehouse, what he didn’t know was that it was still used by Karnak, but then again his business were off the books, Beruk decided to wait in the dark as he did so many times in the past in high grounds to have a better view of it’s ‘prey’, it was a good night to die or so he thought, at the agreed hour there was still no sign of Taren, “Another late deal, why is it always like that?”, Naja thought to himself.
An hour later he finally arrived, Beruk knew something wasn’t right, he had a gut feeling that kept telling him to go away but still he refused to listen and decided to head for the kill without a second thought, Taren stopped near a light and some crates, oddly enough he turned his back to the crates giving the assassin the perfect angle to strike, it was too good to be truth Naja thought as he silently moved near the crates drawing his dagger from his belt, he waited for a second to see if his ‘mark’ was still in the perfect position, when he saw he was he headed for him quietly without noticing someone else near him.
A swoosh was heard, something had been throw in the air and then a thud was heard, the assassin down on the floor, he had a knife stuck right above his right eye, a huge wound and his face covered in blood, he was beaten, he was dead, the hunter had become the hunted and now Taren would be the assassin, he walked over to Beruk and drew his blaster aiming at his head, “Don’t! Just leave him, he’ll be dead within the hour anyway…”, a woman’s voice, he had been stooped by a woman, then as she got closer to him he opened his eyes trying to see who had injured him, she put her hand on the knife and took it out with a disgusted expression, with a hint of fear in her eyes, “She hasn’t done a lot of this so far…”, Naja thought to himself, he wouldn’t forget that face, that expression, he blacked out looking at her, a few hours later Karnak sent his men to the meeting site, he knew something wans’t right, Beruk always reported as soon as the job was done.
A few days later he woke up, he didn’t know where he was, he didn’t remembered much, a doctor entered the room and asked him a couple of questions about his condition, if he remembered his name, the works, the room was white with a small window from where he could see the sky, the doctor finally told him he was in his home, “My home? I don’t understand, I don’t have one.”, for a few moments he thought all of his life was nothing but a dream he had, perhaps he was still a young boy, maybe his mother was right outside the door but once he looked at his hands and felt his new scar he knew it was all real.
For a while he just stood there, motionless, the doctor kept talking with him, apparently he was the personal physician of Karnak, he would attend his employees health if needed be, the house had been a gift from his boss, a strange one no doubt, he had failed his mission and still was being rewarded, he lost it and got out of bed, “You have to rest Mr. Naja, your body needs to recover, I’ll have to restrain you!”, as soon as he said that he regretted it, he knew how Beruk responded to that kind of threat, a second later he was on the floor begging for his life, he was spared, for now.
An hour later he had arrived at Karnak’s personal residence pissed as hell, “YOU SENT ME TO A DEATH TRAP YOU SLUG!!”, he said right after he had slit the throat of a personal body guard of the crime lord, “WAIT!!! Listen to me Naja, WE were set up, that mongrel that arranged the meeting was in cahoots with them, I had nothing to do with it!!”, the Hutt was fearful of Beruk, that was the first time he realized it, he feared him, and fear was something that Naja loved using for his benefit.
“Look, let’s talk like civilized beings, as a reward for your trouble I gave you that house, it’s yours, you can have it, use it, sell it, do as you wish, also I have purchased a few items that you will find most useful.”, the crime lord pointed at a box near him and clapped his hands, seconds later people arrived with a large crate and put it on the floor, Beruk was curious, what was he getting out of this, he walked cautiously to the box near Karnak and opened it, to his surprise there was a lightsaber in it, he smiled, he looked like a kid holding his present, “Good, I’m happy that you like it, that crate will be delivered in your new home, it contains body armour, clothes for you and also other weapons, bombs, everything you’ll ever need .”, Beruk listened with a bright smile on his face, he nearly died, but now he would be free, from that point on his relationship with his employer changed dramatically, Karnak knew Naja was out of his control now and when his usefulness had run out he would have to go away.
He was at his new home, struggling with his constant thoughts of his own mother, was she all right? What had become of her, he never came back for her, he didn’t want her to know or see what he was now, a monster some would say, a cold killer in other peoples mind, but for him, he wasn’t quite sure what he was so far, but on that day he knew he had to see her, for good or bad.
Naja was becoming increasingly unpredictable, he couldn’t no longer keep his cool in certain situations, whenever he saw a man beating or treating a woman badly he would turn up dead, sooner or later, his bloodlust was becoming legendary among the local populace, he had to face his fears, his own monsters, even Karnak was wary of his assassins mental health, he always enjoyed his ‘personal assets’ to be a little crazy but Beruk was spinning out of control.
And so Naja headed for his first home, the place where it all started, the love, the rage, the hate he felt towards it was confusing for him, all he knew was that he had to face his demons, maybe by looking in his mothers face would change him for the better, maybe he could change his ways, maybe there was a chance of happiness, “A lot of ifs my friend, a lot of ifs…”, he said out loud with people looking at him thinking he was probably crazy.
When he finally arrived at his destination the sight of his old home felt weird, it had nothing with what he remembered, it was nearly decrepit, he could see a few holes in the roof of the house, cracks in the walls, everything around it was dirty and had a funky smell about it, he could almost taste it in his mouth, “Damn, what the hell’s that? As if a Bantha had taken a crap here, my mother wouldn’t let this happen.”, her flowers were long gone, it was hard to have some in that environment but she had them, she loved and cared for them as with his own son.
He opened the door and could immediately smell alcohol all over the place, it was disgusting the way he saw it, he hated it, it remembered him of the beatings he suffered as a child, his father breath made sure of that, a hint of hatred surfaced and his face showed it, he looked around seeing bottles and filth everywhere and then saw his own father passed out on the floor, probably drunk out of his mind, he stared at him for a moment, the hate was becoming bigger but he brushed that feeling aside and went to search for his mother, he went for her old bedroom, nothing but a bed all torn apart with stains on it, then he went to his old bedroom, the sight destroyed his mind, it was all as it was before, nothing had changed from the day he left, he burst into tears and dropped to his knees, staying there for a while.
As he cried the hate began to rise, he didn’t noticed it at first but a little later he could sense it, saying hello to him, wanting to get out of it’s cage and out into the world, at that point Naja wasn’t interested in caging it again so he let it grown deep inside him eventually letting out a roar full of hatred and rage, his scream was enormous but still his father wouldn’t wake up, something that angered him even more, at that point he got up and paced very fast to his old man.
As he got close enough to him he picked him up and threw him into the couch waking him up instantly, “WHAT?!?!? What’s happening? Please take everything, just don’t hurt me, please!!!!”, he didn’t even recognized his own son, “I AM NOT HERE FOR YOU OLD MAN!!! WHERE IS MY MOTHER?!? WHERE ?!?”, Beruk’s face said it all, he was losing it, his rage was in charge, “What? Son…Is that you? Oh my god! It is you, let me hold you my son!”, his father launched himself at Naja unaware of Beruk’s state of mind, he clearly thought his son was back to reconcile with him, forget about the past no doubt, but Naja wasn’t about to forget, he rejected his father and asked once more, “WHERE IS MY MOTHER?!?!”, the old man started weeping, it caught Beruk off guard, “She is dead my son, I’m sorry, she’s dead…”, the man said sobbing even more with such regret that his son lost his anger for a moment, “What happened? How did she die?”
To his surprise his father began to apologize for everything he did when he was nothing but a child, he didn’t mean to lash out on his family and was sorry for what he did, Beruk let himself forgive his father, after all he was his father, his only family now, but then a sudden confession, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt her, but she started talking about you and I got mad, I completely lost it…”, the man stated, Naja got alarmed by what he had just said, “What do you mean? What happened father?”, he asked already aware of what would come out of his father’s mouth, “She wasn’t afraid anymore, she slapped me, and then she started talking about you, I hit her back, she fell and hit her head on the counter of the kitchen, I couldn’t save her, I couldn’t…”
At that time Naja looked at him and while caressing his head said, “Don’t worry father, everything’s all right, I forgive you…”, then he started walking around while Lucious kept crying his eyes out, his father paid no attention to it, the way he saw it he was forgiven, it was all going to be all right, he wasn’t aware that Beruk was actually checking if there were any neighbours, surveying his surroundings to see if he could work at peace, when he felt satisfied he walked towards his father with a blank look in his eyes, his rage was gone, he felt nothing, no fear, no hanger, no sorrow, nothing, he just hit his only parent in the back of the head and knocked him out.
A few moments later Lucious woke up in his son’s bedroom, in his bed with his hands and feet tied up to it and a gag in his mouth, his hands were tied up in a separate side of the bed as were his legs, he guessed that the gag was a part of the sheets, he didn’t know for sure, after all he was tied up, a couple of hours later Naja opened the door as if everything was normal, “Hey you, how’s it going Lucious? You like your new accommodations? I hope you do.”, he smiled while speaking, but not a pretty one, it was more of a grin, a dark one, he was there to have fun, “Well, I am happy to say that there’s no one around old man, so I can take that awful thing out of your mouth.”, he took the gag out and as soon as he did the screams were loud, “NOOOO, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!! I’M YOUR FATHER!! HELP!! HELP!!”, the man screamed in desperation, then his son covered his mouth with his hand, “Dad, dad, let me help you with that, HELP!! HELP!! PLEASE HELP ME!!”, screaming his lungs out, “As you can see there’s no one to help so there’s no need to scream…for now.”
Karnak was not pleased with Naja’s actions, the torture and killing of his father was nothing but a nuisance to him, it had attracted to much unwanted attention, he was afraid that his assassin had gone mad, who would be blamed for his actions? He sure as hell wouldn’t so he did what he thought was best, put a hit on Beruk’s head.
Trogar wasn’t Naja’s best friend but he had a great deal of respect towards him, as a warrior, as a pupil of sorts, he wouldn’t admit it but he liked Beruk and wasn’t about to let him be killed by the Hutt, he searched for Naja eventually finding him near his old home, he had heard from a source that he was still near that area for some unknown reason, he had seen Beruk enter a neighbouring house and headed towards it, when he got to the door he suddenly stopped, “Beruk! You there? It’s me, Trogar!”, he said in a low voice, then he saw a blaster directed straight at his head, “Come in, Trogar. I was expecting you.”
Naja kept aiming his old teachers head and ordered him to sit down at a chair in the middle of the room, “Now, why don’t you tell me what you’re doing here?”, he asked Trogar, “Karnak wants you dead that’s what, he put a bounty on your…”, Beruk quickly interrupted, “You’re to collect the bounty Trogar? I knew you would be interested in that.”, he said, “No! I came here to warn you, I have some security plans you’ll need if you want to get that bounty of your head.”, Naja looked at him trying to figure out his intentions, was he really there to help him or to kill him?
Beruk decided to trust Trogar and got the security plans of Karnak personal residence of all places, then they put them on the near table and started working things out, Trogar volunteered to help out any way he could, this was Naja’s speciality, he relished on it, he was know for it and this time it wouldn’t be any different.
On the next night things were set, he had his things and he was ready for some action, the personal residence was guarded by a few guards, had several cameras and traps that would kill him if he wasn’t careful, he decided to take things in a cautious level, the main door was heavily guarded but the roof was a different matter, “That’s my way in, just got to get past by the fence and those chumps.”, he said to himself while pondering on the best course of action.
At that time Trogar was passing by the main gate and headed for the door of the residence, he knew Naja would come that way in the cover or darkness so he went there too, he knew the guards that were on that side of the compound and didn’t want them killed, after all they did own him credits, he called out to them and they went in his direction with their backs turned to Beruk, that was his chance, in no time he had gone up the fence and was already down on the floor on the other side pacing quickly in the shadows, the guards started talking with Trogar while he demanded his credits, he knew Naja was out there.
“So far so good…”, he thought to himself, “I’m in the back, now where’s that pipe?!?”, he said out loud unaware that someone was just around the corner, the guard came suddenly with his blaster high looking for the one that made the sound, he just wasn’t aware that it was Naja, when he saw it was him he froze for a second not knowing what to do, that gave Beruk’s enough time to disarm him and dispose of him with a quick thrust of his vibroblade in his opponents stomach, “That’ll teach me to keep things to myself.”, he said once again out loud right before going up the pipe.
As soon as he got on the roof he knew it would be a piece of cake from there, Karnak didn’t like to be bothered by his staff so he wouldn’t have to much people in there, mostly security cameras, traps and alarms, but he already knew the alarm codes and he had installed a few of the traps himself so the only real issue were the cameras, he then opened the window dome and with his rope descended into the house.
The house consisted of one security room, Karnak’s personal chambers, guest rooms, kitchen and a few other rooms that didn’t have much use, he was on one of those rooms where there were no cameras, just an empty room, he quickly moved towards the door and tried to hear if someone was there, he then slowly opened the door to see if there was anyone in sight, he knew a camera was just above that door so he would have to be wary of it, the security room was just two doors down the right side, he could just head there and dispose of the surveillance operator but he still wasn’t sure if he really had to, “Perhaps he doesn’t need to die, but still if I bomb Karnak’s ass a lot of people will, if I get rid of him I won’t have to worry about the camera in Karnak’s room.”, at that moment he decided the guard had to die.
He turned right as fast as he cold as the camera turned left and burst into the room catching the rodian completely off guard, with his vibroblade he slit his throat and disabled the security cameras, now he only had to get rid of the crime lord, at that point on he headed directly to Karnak’s room silently without no one noticing his advances, “You’re mine stoopa!!”
When he finally was able to enter his old boss chambers he was delighted with himself, he couldn’t believe how easy it was to get there, in the end he would prevail and not Karnak, not all the credits in Tatooine would save him from his doom, he walked to his masters side and stared at him for quite some time, he knew he wouldn’t be interrupted so he turned on his lightsaber, the sound it made while powering up woke up the Hutt, “What? How did you get here? What are you doing? You won’t get away with this, you’ll pay you know that, put that weapon down Naja, please think this through…”, but Beruk wasn’t listening to him anymore, “I wanted to thank you for this gift, to show my appreciation you’ll be the first one to die with it.”
